Born on March 30, 1974 as the youngest child to Sivapathasuntharam and selvathiamma at Poonakari, Sri Lanka. His father was a well-known violinist, who graduated from Annamalai University, Chidambaram. He had a great passion for music and paintings and this drew Kirupa towards fine arts. He was inspired by the music of his father and artistic works of his siblings. Kirupa had his early education at Jaffna Central College, until the age of 13. The political situation in Sri Lanka forced his family to seek asylum to India and Kirupa continued his education in Tamil Nadu, India. At the age of 15 years, he joined the Annamalai University, Chidambaram where he studied under the guidance of renowned musicians like Madurai J Ramaiyapillai, Thanjavur V shankaraiyar, T.K. Govinda Rao. In 1994, Kirupa came out in flying colours graduated with First class and a title of Isaimamani. He then moved to salem and lectured classes in violin and vocal music. He also proved his skills in several concerts. In 2000, he moved to Auroville, India and continued as a musician and serviced at a cafeteria in visitor center. Along with his friend Krishna Mckenzie, he formed the musical band ‘Emergence’, and composed their songs. He played various roles in the band as a composer, lyricist, vocalist and violinist; they produced the video song / album Nampikkai which was directed by Maria Josia. Throughout this journey, he also carried his passion for paintings; had some twists and turns on the dance floor, being a salsa dancer; admired Latin music; his thirst towards art is never ending. Currently, he is in Paris, France as a teacher, musician and artist expressing himself to the world through the talents of his students, his own concerts, and paintings.
